No. 33 (2020): Special issue on Scholarly Writing Conventions across Disciplines

After ceasing publication for twenty-eight years, ESPMENA Bulletin has been relaunched by the Research Board of the Faculty of Arts, University of Khartoum with issue No. 33 (2020). As of 1975, the English language Servicing Unit (ELSU) had regularly published the Bulletin until the mid-1990s, when it was discontinued. This situation affected the publication of the Bulletin because all the qualified teaching staff (both Sudanese and expatriates) left the country. Now, the Bulletin resumes publication as ESPMENA, featuring a special issue on scholarly writing conventions across disciplines. The articles in this issue have been authored by researchers with different academic backgrounds: environmental sciences, English, information sciences, history and geography. We are hopeful that the journal will continue to serve the EAP, ESP and ELT communities in the MENA region and the world. At the end of this message, I would like to thank Professor John Swales (ELSU Director, 1973-1978) for accepting to appear as the Founding Editor of the Journal and for contributing an article to the next issue.
