Abstract

This paper highlights on one of the most periods of the history of the Sudan “Islamic
period”. It extends from the seventh century AD up to the period precedes the sixteen
century AD-the beginning of the entry of Islam to Sudan, i.e before the establishment of
the Funj Kingdom.There are no enough studies on this important period. The paper investigates the beginning of the entry of Islam to Sudan and the establishment of the small Islamic Kingdoms (Al-Sukkrab, Al-Umari, and Al-giddyat) by using archaeological remains cemetries, domes, mosques, shrines, tombstones, inscriptions, and Islamic pottery.
