Abstract

This article aims at reviewing the famous Maqrizi’s text about the war of Abdullahi ibn Sacad in 31 AH / 652 AC and the Baqt (agreement), questioning its correctness in claiming, e.g., that ibn Sacad’s army had penetrated the kingdom of Makuria, besieged and struck its capital, Dongola, with mangonel and met its king. The article compares Almaqrizi’s claim with what was written in other sources on this matter, in order to come out with a clearer view on this issue.
