STUDY OF LONG-TERM DEFLECTION IN REINFORCED CONCRETE ONE-WAY SLAB

Abstract


This research paper addresses long-term deflection in reinforced concrete one-way slab. The authors develop a model that simulates the actual deflection of a simply support one-way slab using Excel program that incorporates (EC2) model. A parametric study is carried out to identify the influence of factors that contribute in the deflection such as; load, slab thickness, area of steel, compressive strength and tensile strength of concrete. It has been found that the most significant factor that influences deflection is the slab thickness.
