Abstract

This is a specialized study in a part of the practical application of evidence from pre-Islamic poetry. I have called
it (The Rhetoric of Simile in Describing Horses in Pre-Islamic Poetry - An Analytical Study). I based it on the
analytical method based on selecting a sample of evidence from some pre-Islamic poets who excelled in
describing horses with the aim of presenting it, exploring its depths, touching its rhetorical secrets, and analyzing
it with a rhetorical analysis that reveals its expressive, valuable, and artistic values.
The study yielded a number of results, including: The similes of horse poets were characterized by delicate
words, quality of style, eloquence of meanings, precision of description, depth of suggestion, density of shadows,
novelty and novelty. The arts of rhetoric and meanings worked together with their similes, so we saw alliteration,
antithesis, metonymy, presentation, deletion, mention, connection and separation. The study revealed Imru' alQais' distinction and superiority over many poets, as he was the best of them in similes in this regard, the most
accurate in description, the most comprehensive in detail, and the most diverse. The study recommends delving
into pre-Islamic poetry and extracting its artistic potential.
