Abstract

The current study aims to explore the relationship between self-esteem and depression, anxiety, and
psychological stress among people with skin diseases, as well as to reveal differences in self-esteem, depression,
anxiety, and psychological stress according to age, gender, educational level, type of skin disease, and duration
of the disease. "The researcher employed the descriptive correlational comparative method."
The study sample consisted of (n=176) patients attending dermatology clinics in Riyadh. Their ages ranged from
(19-37) years, with (n=100) females and (n=76) males, their average age is (25.2) years. The study used the
Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, translated and codified by Mamdouh Salama (1991a), and the Depression,
Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS 21), translated by Walaa Al-Shtiwi and Nawal Al-Dabyan (2023). The results
of the study revealed the presence of negative and statistically significant correlations between Self-esteem,
depression, anxiety, and psychological stress. The study also revealed that there were no statistically significant
differences between the sample members in self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and psychological stress according
to educational level, gender, duration of infection, and type of skin disease, while the study revealed that there
were differences. It is statistically significant in all anxiety and stress among members of the study sample of skin
disease patients according to chronological age, and the differences are in the direction of the oldest age group.
