Abstract

This paper aims to highlight an important historical event, happened during the reign of the last king of the socalled (The Twenty Fifth Dynasty) which represent the second period of Kush Kingdom, when the capital of the
Kushite Kingdom was Napata. The king is Tanutamon, and the event is the fulfillment of a dream. King
Tanutamon ascent the throne of Kush in 664 B.C succeeding to his uncle Taharqa. During his first ruling year,
and when he was sleeping; he saw a dream. The written sources from the reign of this king, proved he has fulfilled
his royal dream, and immortalizing it in stone stela; erected in the first courtyard of Amon temple at Napata, the
stela known among the scholars as the Dream Stela. The paper aims to read the stela and interpret the royal
dream. Attempting to evaluate how the implementation of this dream; affects the religious and political life in
the Nile Valley. The researcher uses the approach of analyzing the previous translations of the texts of the stela
by different researchers, and their remarks in terms of language, and the expressions that stela immortalized,
and the other expressions that omitted, but appeared as archaeological and subsequent historical facts. The
paper concludes with important results enhanced by the military campaign of King Tanutamon, lead to
significance severe changes of the chronology of Sudan ancient history. The paper also concludes with;
recommendations on how to continue such studies, related to the re-reading of ancient texts, and whether their
meanings matched the known archaeological and historical facts.
