This article translates the summary and conclusions of Anthony John Arkell's book, Early Khartoum, published in 1949. Early
Khartoum represents one of the most prominent Mesolithic sites in the Middle Nile Valley and Africa and is considered an
important transitional point between hunter-gatherer societies and the agricultural production societies that later emerged in
the Neolithic. Arkell's excavations have contributed to the discovery of a range of archaeological and environmental data that
reflect the nature of life in this early phase of Sudanese history. This article includes scholarly explanations and commentaries
based on subsequent research developments on the site and its cultural and environmental surroundings
