This study is related to an important issue that has raised - and still raises - controversy among scholars of Sharia politics, which is: the text and appointment by Allah and His Messenger (PPUH), regarding a method for choosing the Imam. Thus, contrary to the opinion that says the choice of the caliph is up to the nation and that it has the right to choose and appoint, the Imami Shiites considers, based on evidence from clear and ambiguous texts, that the imamate is proven by text and appointment, and Ibn Khuldun is one of the most prominent Imams who launched counter opinion against the Shiites in their claim. The study aims to explain all of this, and by using the inductive and analytical approach and by sticking to the aim of the study, the study reached important results, including: Refuting the claim of the Imami Shiites that the Imamate is obligatory upon Allah based on his kindness, as well as their claim that the Imamate is proven by text and appointment, Ibn Khuldun refutedtheir texts and narrations that they used as evidence, and has proven that they are either fabricated, or their reference is challenged, or they are interpreted using corrupt interpretations that the Sunnis do not approve
