Abstract

The present research sought to study the repressed narrative  discourse in order to explore the reasons that led to its ban, and the  mechanisms that were used to repress it, according to a descriptive  and analytical approach that probes the depths of this discourse from  the inside, in order to examine whether the justifications for the ban  are real reasons or just claims that are fabricated, and to dig into the  contents and ideas to which the narrative discourse was devoted, to  check whether are they rebellious, outlandish, extremist ideas and con tents, or contents and ideas that call for the realization of higher hu man values which are absent, such as freedom, justice, and dignity. The  main motive for approaching this topic is the curiosity aroused by  such discourse to know the reasons for its destruction and ban (inside  the text), and to know the mechanisms that were followed to ban it  and repress it (outside the text) The research concluded with some  results, including: that the suppressed literary discourse reveals the  nature of the tense dialectical relationship between literature and  power, and that the criticism emanating from an ideological back ground harms the novelist's discourse, because by focusing on the in tellectual premises it does not take into account the specificity of this  literary discourse, and that suppression in some way has enriched lit erary output; for instance, detention gave birth to prison literature,  and deportation produced exile literature .
