Abstract

Ibn Jinni is one of the most influential Arabian scholars in understanding the Arabic Language development and deep knowledge. Our ancient scholars had benefited from him in the old days, and modern researchers are still conducting studies and researches on his thought and knowledge, and his works are the living witness to the abundance and the diversity of his knowledge. one of the most famous of his books is (Al-Luma’ fi Nahw), which can be considered to be a small book. However, the book’s impact is profound and very beneficial, and Ibn Jinni had delivered many of his opinions in an easiest way, far from ambiguity and affectation. He supported his opinions with proof and evidences through listening narrations, at the forefront was his poetry. Furthermore this study includes a comparative descriptive study between Ibn Jinni using poetries as an evidence for Arabic grammar in his book (Al-Luma) and other grammarian usage of this same evidence. I had reached a number of conclusions, including: Ibn Jinni did not cite poems for poets outside the designated period. and that the most frequent use of poetic evidence by Ibn Jinni was to show the grammar consistency. Moreover, many grammarians employed poetic evidence in the way that Ibn Jinni did, and this does not mean that some grammarians had not deployed them in other than what Ibn Jinni had done, and Ibn Jinni’s employment of the poetic evidences in (Al-Luma’) may differ from other books.
