Letter from the Editor in Chief
Dear Contributors, Reviewers, and Readers,
Since the publishing of the first volume of the Journal of Building and Road Research in 1997, the main aim was and still is to disseminate research results on a wider scale by publishing an engineering journal. This is envisaged to invite a wider spectrum of contributors dealing with subjects
of relevance to the scope of the journal.
We proposed to add a new package of various publications options to address many of the new and emerging engineering needs of the professional work in Sudan.
The proposed types of papers will include the following:
1) State of Practice Paper
This presents techniques or procedures that are new in Sudan. These cover
different areas that are included in the BRRI scope.
2) Case-studies paper
Case studies give very useful technical information about different projects
and their implementation. Problems arising and the proposed solutions and
results of such solutions will add to technical knowledge for the professional
community.
3) Technical Note
A Technical note is short note that presents information that introduce new
concepts or procedures to the engineering local community.
We are still open to any new ideas for publications. We extend our invitation for participation to engineers and architects working in various disciplines related to Building materials, structures,
geotechnology, environmental and sanitary, roads, bridges, architecture, urban design, planning and all other fields related to the building and roads industry.
I shall conclude this letter with an appeal to engineers and architects to contribute to the Journal with technical material and well documented engineering case studies. This is the only way that will ensure that the journal will be meeting the needs of our engineering community.
I do not doubt that you will respond positively to this call.
Dr. Elfatih Mohammed Ali
