Author Guidelines

Terms and Conditions of Publication Discourse is an immaculate biannual scholarly periodical issued by the Peace Research Institute (PRI) - the University of Khartoum. The periodical welcomes contributions of writers, scholars and researchers on peace issues, negotiations, peaceful coexistence, diversity, democratic development and social literature both inside Sudan and abroad at the regional and international levels. Contributions can be in the form of articles, books, scholarly researches, statistical data and other forms that come under the objectives of the periodical. The following are terms, conditions and rules of publication in Discourse for the benefit of researchers, parties concerned and scholars: •    The material to be published should observe the rules recognized in scientific research and academic studies in terms of documentation of sources and references, objectivity and methodology. •    The materials to be published will be presented for evaluation and determination of feasibility for publication. •    Should assessors have some remarks on the material to be published, it will be returned to the author for consideration of those remarks. •    The management of the periodical will not be under obligation to return the material to be published if that material has been rejected by the assessors. •    The material forwarded for publication should not have been presented for publication before. •    Title of the article to be published should be displayed and should be brief and expressive of the article’s content, together with the address of the author/authors. •    Documentation of footnotes should be on each individual page while sources and references shall be listed at the end of the material. •    Discourse reserves the right of releasing the material to be published in any of its issues.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
