Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the Holy Qur’an on the Arabic language by identifying the impacts and virtues that the Qur’an has bestowed upon the language of Ḍād. The study adopts the descriptive-analytical and historical approaches. The study reached several significant findings, the most important of which are: the Qur’an contributed to the perpetuation and enduring survival of the Arabic language; it united the Arabs around the dialect of Quraysh, as Quraysh was considered the most eloquent of the Arab tribes and the purest in its use of the language; it enriched the Arabic language with new religious terminology; and it refined the Arabic language by eliminating obscure and unfamiliar expressions, elevating its stylistic quality, and cultivating literary taste. The Qur’an also exerted a profound influence on poetry, as its meanings and vocabulary became imbued with the spirit of the Qur’an.
