It is well established that the Gezira region was under the rule of the Fung kingdom during the height of its political power, with the Halaween area forming an integral part of this geographical domain. This paper examines the conditions experienced by the inhabitants of the Halaween region during the period of the Fung kingdom, focusing on the nature of the relationship between the central authority in Sennar and the local population. It also explores the contributions of the people of Halaween during this period, highlighting both their political and religious roles. In addition, the paper discusses several prominent figures who influenced thereligious and intellectual life of the Gezira region and who formed an important part of the social fabric of Halaween. The study is based on the limited information available in historical sources dealing with the history of the kingdom Sultanate. It also employs analytical and inferential approaches to interpret the scarce historical accounts concerning the region and its inhabitants during the era of the Sennar Alliance State. The analysis suggests that the Halaween region served as an important cultural and economic contributor to both the Gezira region and the central government in Sennar. Nevertheless, further research is essential to obtain more comprehensive and reliable information about the history and significance of this region.Downloads
